According to Justice McALLISTER’s decision in People v Hawthorne, 293 Mich. 15, 291 N.W. 205 (1940), testimony from an excellently competent psychologist on the topic of sanity was excluded on the grounds that insanity is a disease and so lies within the study of medicine.
